Hewlett-Packard has expanded its regional operations by opening a competency centre in Jordan that will offer sales, services and support to the Middle East, Mediterranean & Africa (MEMA) region.

HP's fully-owned subsidiary in Jordan will help provide job opportunities to young graduates in the country and could become one of the company's global service delivery centres.

"HP's investment in Jordan is part of our long term strategy to identify and invest in the best growth opportunities across the world, and to deliver balanced and sustainable growth for HP worldwide," said Francesco Serafini, managing director of HP Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).

A memorandum of understanding was signed with the Government of Jordan for the creation of the centre, with the minister of Information and Communications Technology Marwan Juma adding that HP's decision to inaugurate its regional office in Jordan was the result of His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision for the ICT sector, which represents 14% of Jordan's GDP.
