Al-Jammaz Distribution is promising to bring retailers and SMB resellers up to speed with Iomega's latest offerings at a special one-day roadshow on the 14th of December.

The company has so far invited 120 executives to the event, which will be held at Riyadh's Holiday Inn hotel. Further roadshows are planned for Al-Khobar and Jeddah in January.

"We plan to talk about the products, technicians will be there and it will be an opportunity for the different channels to gain a lot of information," explained Tarik Maroof, business unit manager at Al-Jammaz. "It will also help in terms of expanding the relationship between the retailers and Al-Jammaz as a VAD."

Last year, Al Jammaz signed an agreement with EMC, the parent of Iomega, to distribute networked storage and information management software in Saudi Arabia.

It subsequently gained in-country Iomega rights earlier this year, becoming its sole distributor in the kingdom. Prior to that, the Saudi channel was served by ITE Distribution from Dubai.

Maroof says attendees to the event will gain an insight into the latest Iomega offerings, including its external hard drives, ScreenPlay multimedia drives and NAS boxes.

"We have got a very good market share against Western Digital and Seagate by coming into the market strong and hard," insisted Maroof. "We expect business through the channel to increase by about 60% next year, which would be even higher than Iomega imagines."

So far, the distributor - which also works with brands such as Acer and Sun Microsystems - has been targeting independent retail showrooms, selected hypermarkets and SMB-focused dealers.
