Google has marked the 38th UAE National day with a doodle.

The search engine giant has changed its logo on Wednesday to celebrate the special day, so that it now featuring an Emirati flying a falcon.

The graphic is only used on the site and not pages specific to other countries and will remain online for the day.

Celebrations across the UAE are planned throughout the day with Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi set to hold the world's largest fireworks display.

Some 100,000 fireworks will be set off from 12 barges moored just of the shore, with some rockets reaching up to 2,000 metres high, the hotel spokeswoman Janet Abrahams told Gulf News.

It stands to break the current Guinness World Record for the biggest fireworks display held by the Portuguese island of Madeira for a New Year's Eve display in 2006.
