Cost most important factor in SMB printer buying decisions

HP has conducted a survey to examine print trends in the Middle East, which showed that speed, quality of colour and all-in-one features are ranked as the most important factors in print performance to SMBs in the region, while buying decisions are mostly made on cost.

The survey was intended to gain insight into print usage, and understanding of print solutions, among companies with fewer than nine employees. 180 interviews were conducted in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, across a wide range of vertical sectors.

Results varied from region to region, with Egyptian businesses placing a lot more emphasis on the cost efficiency of printing than businesses in the Gulf. Egyptian businesses were also more concerned about the cost of printing marketing materials, although 53% of all surveyed businesses print documents in colour when they are used for external purposes.

Buying behaviour among SMBs also varied from regions. While initial cost of purchasing print solutions was the most important factor over cost per page or supply costs, Egyptian and Saudi businesses placed more importance on availability and cost of print supplies than companies in the UAE, where brand and eco-friendly features were more highly regarded.
