KAUST speeds through SAP integration in 110 days
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology has installed a number of modules from SAP including supply chain management, in 110 calendar days.
Jeddah's King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia has become the latest enterprise to join the growing number of SAP users in the Middle East.
The Saudi Arabian educational institution has completed implementation of a number of modules from the German software powerhouse, in just 110 calendar days, with the help of consultancy SIS and its local partner, Naizak.
Mohammed Rizvi, head of SIS for the Gulf region comments: "The highlight of the implementation was clearly the range of SAP Business Suite products that were productively engaged by Naizak to serve the University. These included the SAP ERP, SCM, SRM, EP and PI that had to be implemented and interfaced with KAUST landscape keeping in line with the University's tied opening schedule."
One of the highlights of the system was its implementation of a complete supply chain interface with the SAP modules which were being integrated at the time. The project went live on August 17.
"This entire initiative was quite challenging due to time constraints and simultaneous handling of multiple tasks to fulfill our main contract. We are proud to say that our partnership with Siemens and Naizak's team has helped us in achieving the IT application needs of this initiative," said Fuad Al Karam, general manager for Naizak Lab Systems and Head of Naizak-KAUST Project.
KAUST also hosts one of the region's fastest supercomputer projects, the Shaheen system, which is being built in conjunction with IBM.

True that Wipro implemented SAP for KAUST, and absolutely true that Naizak-Siemens Team implemented SAP for the outsourced SCM partner that integrates with KAUST landscape in 11 touch-points. The Naizak-Siemens Team made a breakthrough in delivering fully integrated supply chain end-to-end to support the research community at KAUST in just 110 days. Part of the implementation is the integration of a chemical tracking system (PacTrack) that feeds lab supply points' demand into inv mgmt for MRP.

Truth Has No Grey Face
Its rare to see so called big companies playing with words... End to end SAP-ERP implementation for KAUST was done by Wipro Arabia. The ERP application developed by Naizak-Siemens was to just support their own setup and is NOT for KAUST.
