Nokia has announced that it will no longer be publishing new games for the N-Gage platform as part of plans to unify all its offerings under their Ovi offering.

In April last year, the company announced the global launch of the N-Gage mobile games service which offered more gaming titles and community features, and moved beyond just the specific N-Gage handset to work on other Nseries and other S60 3rd Edition devices from Nokia.

The website, along with its community features, will now remain operational throughout next year and N-Gage games can be purchased until the end of September 2010, but the Ovi Store will now be taking over as the primary resource for the latest mobile games.

"Our long term goal is to integrate all Nokia services into a seamless user experience under the Ovi umbrella. This means that rather than have multiple channels for purchasing games, Ovi Store is the place to find and buy mobile games," Tala Toukan, communications manager at Nokia MENA.

Toukan assured customers in the region that all any purchased games will continue to work on N-Gage compatible devices, with only the community features of games being deactivated after 2010.
