Unified threat management (UTM) vendor Cyberoam will reach a major milestone in its Middle East development next month when it opens a local distribution hub in the UAE.

At the moment, the vendor’s products are shipped from Taiwan to the US, where they are then dispatched to the Middle East. But that is all set to change, reveals the firm’s CEO Hemal Patel.

“Until last year, our economics were only allowing us to have one distribution centre, which was in the US, but fortunately our business has doubled in the Middle East this year so we are actively working to open up a distribution centre here,” he says.

“The centre will help all of our partners to receive products and carry out RMA (return merchandise authorisation) much faster. There will also be more of our own support, so we will be employing people for that.”

Patel insists that partners – especially those based in the Gulf – should get instant benefits from the new facility, which will be based in Dubai. “We should be operational by the end of November,” he says. “We will be distributing to the Middle East, Africa and South-East Asia from here. Europe and South America will be taken care of from the US.”

Patel, who splits his time between the US and India, says that the Middle East is now the second largest market for Cyberoam, behind India.

“What I would like to get across is that we are committed to bringing more innovation,” says Patel. “The channel always needs something innovative to sell to the client and to make more money. That will be a strong focus for us - bringing more innovation and products."
