Router manufacturer Advance Multimedia Internet Technology (AMIT) is exhibiting at GITEX Technology Week for the first time this year.

The Taiwanese firm specialises in embedded systems design for network and routing technologies. Originally operating as an OEM, the firm now markets it own product line.

“Two years ago we decided that we could promote our products better if we offered them through our own brand,” says Mark Shu, Sales Manager, AMIT.

“In order to achieve this we developed the ZALIP brand. This allows us to position our products correctly, emphasising the quality that we are able to achieve at a low price point,” claims  AMIT’s Shu.

Leading the line for the ZALIP range at GITEX are its WiFi routers with 3G transceivers embedded within.

“The Middle East telecommunications industry is thriving. The major telcos have invested heavily in network infrastructure. The consumers in this region are early adopters as well. The result is that the Middle East is a thriving 3G market. These facts have encouraged us to place much emphasis on this particular range of routers at GITEX. We expect the miniature portable 3G enabled WiFi router to do particularly well,” he adds.

Although not on display at GITEX, AMIT will also be marketing a 3G USB dongle. The company, which employs 850 people worldwide, is also using GITEX to find distribution partners throughout the Middle East.

“Everyone is aware of the potential of these 3G devices and as such we have had a lot of interest,” reveals Shu.
