Video conferencing specialist Polycom and its regional distributor FVC have attracted significant attention at this year's GULFCOMMS, with many visitors eager to sample immersive telepresence for themselves.
Polycom has its latest immersive telepresence offering, RealPresence Experience (RPX) HD, on display. Demonstrations of RPX include live sessions between the FVC stand and FVC's Executive Briefing Centre in Dubai Internet City and other locations in Europe.
Meanwhile, FVC is helping visitors understand how they can save costs, time and minimise their carbon footprint through Polycom's video conferencing technology.
Steve Leyland, Polycom's General Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, says that RPX benefits from having cameras embedded in the screen, which helps give users the experience on eye contact, while surround sound and "fully directional audio" adds to the feeling that a meeting is taking place in the same room, rather than different locations around the world. FVC also announced Polycom's latest range of products for the SMB sector.
