End-to-end office solutions vendor Pelikan has been telling visitors to its stand at GITEX to think about the concept of “office wellness”.
While Pelican offers solutions that include high-definition overhead projectors, printer consumables, office equipment and even stationery, staff at the stall have also been asking potential customers to think about how they can make the office environment relaxing, as well as productive. This is also the reason why the Pelikan stand is adorned with a full-sized aquarium.
The Office Wellness message also comes as a reaction to the financial crisis and the mounting stress that employees in corporations accross the Middle East are now under.
“This year we have come with the concept called office wellness, this is very important, most of us are living through a recession and this is creating pyschological problems,” states Nasser Al Atrash, VP and Head of Business Operations for the Middle East and Africa region at Pelikan.
“As well as demonstrating our many solutions here at GITEX we have been advising customers how to release the stress and we have the fish,” adds Atrash.
From the business development perspective, Pelikan recently made a purchase of Geha, which the company suggests has contributed to its aim of being able to offer a complete office solutions range.
“We bought them in Q2 of this year, and the reason we did that was, as we are working on offering total office solutions, it completes our range. We now have office supplies, printer consumables and supplies, and IT instrument supplies — all four categories equals total office suppiles,” says Atrash.
He also hinted that Pelikan is in potential buyout talks with another company that would further build on its total office solution mantle and that this is most likely to arrive in the last quarter of 2009.
