Smart homes come to the fore at show

Al Futtaim is keen to show off its Smart Home, Smart Office systems.
Al-Futtaim Technologies, one of the region's leading systems integrators and an Al-Futtaim group company, is demonstrating its smart home and office technology at this year's GITEX Technology Week.
The company comes into the exhibition with good reason to be confident having recently received two awards.
"We have been part of GITEX for more than a decade but our participation this year is rather special with the awards under our belt and an increasing appetite for more challenges," says Venkat Raghavan, General Manager, Al-Futtaim Technologies.
The company was awarded the Enterprise Reseller of the Year award at the 2009 Channel Middle East awards and the Best Systems Integrator award at the Network Middle East Innovation 2009 awards ceremony in Dubai.
"We are glad the industry is showing signs of recovery from a rather difficult year and this is good news for Al-Futtaim Technologies and other major regional players," he adds.
"Our specialised skills and solutions are on show in the Smart Home, Smart Office pavilion and we thank the organisers for choosing us to be part of this venture. We are demonstrating our unique ability to bring together various components with a single-minded focus aimed at enhancing our customers' experiences. We are confident GITEX will continue to offer us the right platform to engage with potential customers," claims Raghavan.
The Smart Home Smart Office stand will present a complete recreation of both a smart home and smart office environment using the Control4 product suite that allows home owners to control music, movies, light, temperature and security systems using a remote control or the internet. The solution uses dimmers, timers and occupancy sensors to reduce energy waste.
"The solution will help significantly reduce energy consumption without compromising on lifestyle," says Al-Futtaim's Raghavan. "Automated home technology is one of the fastest growing sectors of the consumer electronics industry in the UAE."
