CEOs must look beyond the heritage thinking about IT and see the internal gems like enterprise architecture (EA) that can help them in good times and bad times. Gartner research indicates that 5% of chief architects report directly to the business, not to an IT function, and a further 22% of chief architects have dual reporting relationships. These facts suggest that architects are helping the CEO manage the business, not just helping the CIO manage IT.
