Motorola's AED 8,000 moon phone

Times are definitely bad. But not so bad that we can’t shell out 8,000 dirhams for a special moon phone, right?

Times are definitely bad. But not so bad that we can’t shell out 8,000 dirhams for a special moon phone, right?

Motorola just staged an ‘exclusive’ launch of the Aura Celestial Edition handset at Salam Stores in Dubai for luxe lovers (and moon fanatics).

The phone has a 62-carat sapphire crystal lens and ‘moon-shaped circular screen’ – perfect because it commemorates the 40th anniversary of Armstrong landing on the moon by packing in original NASA sound clips, photographs and video footage.

Yes, you can hear that clichéd small step, giant leap line now to your little heart’s content.

What else? How about the quote - Motorola AURA Celestial Edition, Honoring the Apollo 11 mission, 20th July 1969 – laser etched on the phone’s exterior?

If you’re still fussy about spending 8k, how about the promise of nine limited edition moon inspired postcards delicately placed in a wood and velvet box?

Well, I tried.
