What's your career history in the industry to date?

With over 10 years in the IT and telecoms industry, I have had the opportunity to work on both the direct and indirect sides of the business, selling solutions from applications to infrastructure to services. The Middle East remains a growing and developing market, and hence my experience of working for organisations such as Oracle, CA, Satyam, Lionbridge and Zycus focused on the North American, European and Asia-Pacific markets has helped. The Middle East market offered me the best opportunity to use my skills and experience.

What is the most valuable business lesson you've learnt?

I would have to say integrity and adherence to business commitments. It takes years to build a reputation and seconds to lose one. That is an ethos that is strongly followed in Optimus Technologies.

How do you relax outside of the work environment?

I am an avid reader. Reading helps me de-stress after a long hard day at work. My three favourite books are The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Godfather by Mario Puzo and the autobiography of Lee Iacocca.

What do you enjoy most about working in the Middle East IT market?

As it's a growing market, it gives ample opportunities to innovate. The enthusiasm of the channel to adopt new technology and enable better business processes has made it a very exciting place to work.

What are your top channel tips for the next 12 months?

Service oriented approach to customers showcases a commitment that the solution partner is as involved in the success of a customer's business as the customer itself. At Optimus, our focus on value added services has helped our partners enhance their service offerings to their customers and enable long-term relationships.

What do you dislike most about working in the Middle East IT market?

I don't think that there is anything in particular that I dislike about this market. Every setback is an opportunity in disguise.

Which individual in the IT industry do you most admire?

There are many that I admire in this industry so it is difficult to pinpoint a single individual. But if I have to pick one, I would say Bill Gates and the way Microsoft has changed how business is conducted.

How would you describe your management style?

I would have to say empowerment. I believe very strongly in empowering my team and allowing them to make mistakes and learn from those mistakes.

What is the proudest moment of your career to date?

There are many moments in my career which I am proud of, whether it is closing deals, the acquisition of new relationships or accomplishing new assignments.
