Etisalat has launched a new mobile broadband promotion that offers 50% cost savings to subscribers in a bid to push uptake of the service in the country.

The offer, which is valid till November 9th this year, allows customers to pick up a HSPA USB modem (download speeds of 7.2 Mbps and upload speeds of 5.7 Mbps), 10 GB data subscription for one month, and a data SIM card for AED 499.

If purchased separately, these products would’ve set customers back AED 1,084.

Etisalat says it has been in support of “advancing mobile broadband penetration in the UAE by providing 3G coverage to the 99% of the populated areas of the UAE.”

“We have also successfully completed the phase 1 of our roadmap to bring the next generation mobile broadband connectivity to the Middle East. In trials, in the UAE, Etisalat has recorded average download speeds of 20.37 Mbps, using the HSPA+ technology,” added Khalifa Al Shamsi, acting chief marketing officer at Etisalat.
