Etisalat broadband customers can enjoy high-speed upgrades of up to 16 Mbps for the next two months without paying additional charges.

The offer, which was launched on the 2nd of September, is extended to Al Shamil customers who can upgrade their internet speeds for free. But to get a taste of the highest 8Mbps and 16Mbps speeds, users will need FTTH (Fibre To The Home) connectivity.

Once the offer expires on November 30th, customers can choose to either pay for their higher net speeds or revert back to existing packages.

“Etisalat has been at the forefront of the broadband revolution and will continue its efforts of increasing the broadband penetration and usage in the UAE,” stated Khalifa Al Shamsi, the acting chief marketing officer at Etisalat. “Our efforts and contribution is evident with UAE being ranked as the top Arab country, and 27th globally, with respect to network infrastructure readiness, out of 184 countries (network readiness index – global information and technology report).”

Our homes are installed with the FTTH but not activated! just the wiring has been completed in Al Diyafa Road, Hudaiba, Otaiba Centre. But my broad band has not been connected through it. How can we get the free upgrades?

How do we know that whether we have FTTH connection at home / office ? What percentage of the UAE population has this sort of connection to experience such high speed ? How do we get FTTH connections and what sort of cost are we talking about ? As I know that there is nothing free in Dubai.
