Juniper names new Telecoms lead for Gulf Tareq Hamadneh leaves Cisco to head up Juniper Networks’ Service Provider Business in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Yemen.

Tariq Hamadneh has been appointed head of Service Provider Business in Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Yemen at networking outfit Juniper Networks.

Previously of Cisco, Hamadneh's hiring is said to have been sparked by growing opportunities in the telecommunications landscapes in the Gulf and Levant region. He is charged with convincing telecoms providers that Juniper's network infrastructure can attract business and residential customers, while driving down operating costs.

"My immediate aim is to help Juniper's telecom customers expand and accelerate their business models, driving increased profitability from their networks," said Hamadneh.

Juniper points to statistics from telecoms research consultancy BuddeComm to support the creation of Hamadneh's role. According to BuddeComm, mobile penetration in Saudi Arabia has exceeded 100%, Jordan has recently seen the number of operators offering internet services increase into the double digits, and Yemen has witnessed mobile growth rates of up to 50% annually over the past two years.

At his previous employer, Cisco in Saudi Arabia, Hamadneh worked as client executive - service provider since October last year and prior to that he was lead account manager for Cisco in Saudi.
