The Roads & Transport Authority in Dubai has now activated the mParking service to work with both Etisalat and du.

mParking, which allows subscribers to pay parking fees through text messages, was first announced in May but was initially available only to Etisalat customers.

It works with the customer sending an SMS containing the car’s plate number, followed by a space, the parking zone code, another space, and the time period required for parking. The message needs to be sent to 7275 (PARK), which is then approved by the RTA.

The RTA confirmed that phase 1 and 2 of the service has now been completed, covering Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City and all controlled parking zones at Bur Dubai. Directional signs are in place to help customers know the areas in which mParking service is available.

Phase 3, which extends coverage to controlled parking zones in Deira, is currently underway.

More information on the service is available through the RTA’s mParking page - www.mpark.rta.ae
