Abbyy has made a name for itself in the data capture and linguistic market and PDF Transformer 3.0 is one of the firm’s latest releases. Is it worth your cash?
If you have serious PDF requirements then we’d have to say yes. The software is designed to offer PDF conversion, creation of PDF files from scratch as well as a number of features that will help you combine, modify and secure your PDFs.
It packs a number of improvements over its predecessor including enhanced language recognition (up to 184 are now supported), better protection and document identification features and more. The software is very easy-to-install with minimal user prompts but because the software requires about 500Mbytes of disk space, the actual installation took about seven minutes in all.
As far as its document conversion capabilities are concerned, PDF Transformer 3.0 functions extremely well. We converted a number of documents and the process was quick, easy and returned the results we wanted. Creating documents from scratch is also remarkably easy though we would have preferred if the create and conversion functions were both integrated into a central program rather than appearing as two separate apps. Still, this is a minor gripe, the software ultimately proved functional and easy to work with.
Verdict: A feature-packed PDF tool that does it all with minimal fuss. It’ll run on low end machines as well.
