Keyboards with lit keys are great for when you need to work in the dark and Logitech’s Illuminated Keyboard is possibly the best backlit keyboard we’ve ever tested.
The keyboard is dressed in black and surrounded by a transparent frame and these two design-touches make the Logitech look quite elegant. When you throw in the fact that this keyboard is just 9.3mm thick, you have a seriously stylish IT accessory regardless of the desk you have.
The Logitech features laser etched keys and in a dark room we found the keys were easy to spot because the company has wisely illuminated just the keys. There’s no glow around the individual keys meaning you’ll never find yourself distracted. Logitech has also included brightness control so you can adjust exactly how bright you want the keys to be. The keyboard is also whisper quiet to work on, so even if you’re sharing your room or workspace with someone who’s asleep, they’ll never know you were working.
Using the keyboard for several hours at stretch we found it a dream to work on. Besides being silent, the keys provide great response and feel great when pressed. The integrated palm rest also helps to make long sessions ache-free.
The only issue we had with the Illuminated Keyboard is that the multimedia controls and some of the other functions are located on the function keys and activating them requires that you hold the ‘FN’ key. Whilst this isn’t a problem, it would have been nice if some of the frequently used controls, such as volume, had their own dedicated keys.
