BenQ’s Joybook Lite U101 is one of the newest netbooks on the market and after spending some time with the machine, we’re happy to say it’s also one of the best netbooks we’ve tested.
One of the biggest advantages BenQ’s U101 holds over other netbooks we’ve tried is that it sports a 10.1-inch LCD screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio. This immediately makes this netbook a sweeter alternative in terms of watching movies as its size and aspect ratio will help create a far more pleasing and realistic display. To go with this, the screen is also a champ in terms of colour and vibrancy and with a brightness of 200nits, you can work or watch even in bright environments without having your display washed out.
Beyond this, the BenQ goes shoulder-to-shoulder with other netbook models as it incorporates a 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 512Mbytes of memory and a 160Gbyte hard disk drive. There’s also a memory card reader and ample wireless connectivity so you’ll never find yourself in a bind when it comes to getting online or sharing data.
The machine’s specifications made it as quick as other XP-based netbooks we’ve tested and the machine’s battery life of two hours and 45 minutes is also quite respectable. The machine’s keyboard and trackpad also work brilliantly so long sessions won’t prove tiresome. Great.
