He's an ex-KGB officer, judo champion and some time tiger hunter, and now he's given Michael Dell a slap down at the Davos Forum.

In a panel discussion at the global talking shop, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin was asked by Michael Dell how the IT industry could help Russia to develop its infrastructure. And in a somewhat unexpected turn, Putin apparently took umbrage at the suggestion that Russia needs any help with IT development - and even had a dig at Dell by stressing Russia's expertise in software rather than hardware.

Who'd have thought Putin was a software snob?
