UPDATED: While Steve Job's Apple Worldwide Developer Conference keynote mentioned a lot of countries that would be getting the new iPhone at launch, there was no word on whether it would be available in the Gulf. But did his keynote give a clue? maybe...

Check out these images from engadget, which would seem to show a big red 'iPhone 3G' dot in the middle of the Gulf.

But is that Bahrain or Qatar?

Either seems possible, as Vodafone, an existing iPhone vendor and one of the named vendors for Egypt, along with Orange, is the majority shareholder in the consortium that holds Qatar's second mobile licence. It also has a partnership agreement with Zain Bahrain.

Then again, maybe its just a bug on the screen...

Confirmed: It's Qatar, from Vodafone, as seen on the Apple website here. No pricing or release dates yet though.
