Better known for wielding a guitar than manipulating a mouse, UK singer Billy Bragg is this issue’s unlikely GOTW. Bragg’s left-leaning sympathies are well-known and now he has carried this beligerance forward into the digital age by confronting popular websites that offer music downloads.

The battle is over the rights to ownership of the music and Bragg has forced websites MySpace and Bebo to mend their terms and conditions. “I don’t want to find out in 25 years time that 20% of my earnings are owned by Apple or whoever, ” he told entertainment website OUT-LAW.

He is now taking on MTV Flux, the music channel’s forthcoming social-networking site which is inviting audio and video content from artists.

“A close reading [of the terms and conditions] suggests MTV wants to own their work,” Bragg claimed in UK newspaper The Guardian.

Watch out MTV...
