Apple has updated its consumer desktop range, with the Middle East launch of its 24 inch iMac and Mac Mini.

The two new additions extend Apple’s iMac desktop range with a larger screen, higher spec 24 inch model, and introduces what Apple says is the most energy efficient desktop in the world with the Mac Mini.

The 24 inch iMac includes a 1920 x 1200 screen, 30% larger than the previous 20 inch model, powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR3 Ram and 640GB or 1TB SATA HDD. The iMac comes with either NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics or NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 or ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics processor.

The Mac mini also runs on Intel Core 2 Duo processor, with 1-2GB DDR3 RAM, a 120GB or 36GB SATA HDD and NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics.

All iMacs and Mac Minis ship with the OS X Leopard operating system, and the Apple iLife suite of consumer imaging, video and music applications.

Both models are also compliant with the Energy Star 4.0 and new Energy Star 5.0 requirements, plus the US Environmental Protection Agency’s EPEAT Gold status and use PVC-free internal components and cables and contain no brominated flame retardants. The mini is also described as the most energy efficient desktop in the world, use less than 13 watts when idle.
