Selling more than a million copies worldwide, the exclusive Halo Wars title is now the best-selling real-time strategy (RTS) game on any current generation console.

Halo Wars is set in the year 2525 with players taking command and playing out epic battles between the UNSC and Covenant.

Nearly 2.6 million multiplayer matches have been played since the game’s release in late February, with around 200,000 people competing in matches daily.

Mindful of this success, Microsoft is working closely with partner and newly formed studio Robot Entertainment, to prepare more Halo Wars content.

Despite the recent Halo Wars milestone, it still trails behind the original Halo FPS (First-Person Shooter) series. Halo 3, the third installment in the Halo trilogy, racked up more than 1.7 million preorders and made an astonishing $170 million in the U.S. alone in the first 24 hours of its release.
