Creative seeks disties to open new markets

Creative Labs is currently on the hunt for two distribution partners to forge its business in Qatar and Oman

Accessories vendor Creative Labs is vying to expand its market in the Middle East and is currently on the hunt for two distribution partners to forge its business in Qatar and Oman.

Jordan Lee, manager at Creative Labs ME, says he would like to sign partners in both countries “as soon as possible”.

“The right partner for us is one that can carry out logistics and take our products to the right places, to the retailers and channel,” said Lee. “Local knowledge and the effort that they put in is important because we cannot be in all places at one time, we will rely on their work.”

The vendor revealed that, although it is undecided about the size of partner that would best serve its needs in Qatar and Oman respectively, it is looking for in-country distributors as it feels this is the type of partner that will be able to offer the level of market development and coverage it desires.

“I don’t like to qualify between anybody who is big or small but anybody who has insurance and the commitment can work with us, they don’t have to be the largest or even carry multiple brands,” continued Lee.

Creative says the distributors would be expected to carry out standard tasks such as retail merchandising and individual partner training as well as product delivery. The vendor in turn promises to offer support to the distributors.

“We have always been offering support to our channel in terms of marketing and looking at the right pricing and ensuring partner margins are protected, so far that has been working well for us,” said Lee. “Being an accessories vendor we are not always in the frontline of the IT industry and we are just looking at the constant business and the bottom line carefully and at prudent spending.”
