Qtel goes live with personal BlackBerry net service
Allows mainstream users to enjoy the wireless benefits of the smartphone sensation
Qtel has officially launched the personal edition of the BlackBerry internet service that allows mainstream individual users in Qatar to access wireless email, instant messaging and other applications using BlackBerry push email technology.
The service allows access to up to ten email POP3 or IMAP4 accounts, including the ever-popular Gmail, Yahoo! and Hotmail. For more information on pricing and subscription features, visit Qtel’s website.
“The new BlackBerry Internet Service is another example of Qtel taking mobility another step forward,” said Khalid Abdulla Al-Mansouri, executive director of Business Solutions at Qtel, adding that: “Offering the BlackBerry solution further illustrates Qtel’s commitment to offering a full range of advanced mobile communications services and applications to our customers.”
Qtel launched the BlackBerry smartphone just last year and, with the release of the personal edition, it's looking to double the number of subscribers in Qatar.

Blackberry devices offer the best of both world. Communication and information services with a format that is very user friendly. My Qatari friends once you start using Blackberrys beyond the career and into the personal life you will find these "smartphones" rather addicting. With Blackberry's "pushed" emails (10 accounts) and internet access... the "information world" becomes a necessary way of life.
