Seriously this is hilarious! I have nothing against Etisalat or their prices, I am happy (that being the only viable alternative at the moment). But if I am not mistaken, Mauritania's per capita GDP is only USD 2000 whereas in the UAE it is USD 40,000! Obviously ADSL affordability as a % of GDP would be high in Mauretania!!

Surely this article must be the earliest example of an April Fool's joke - Internet rates here in the UAE are the biggest rip-off with high prices for extremely slow speeds and unreliable service - the recent "line" problems prove that the investments being made in infrastructure is woefully poor - please check the rates being offered in the US/UK/Europe for high speed reliable connections....

we can call this data manipulation, who would compare the price to the GDP and pretend that they are lowest? bandwidth is a commodity and the UAE is among the most expensive in the Arab world and not to be compared with the IT advanced countries...in countries such as Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan, the cost of bandwidth is almost half the price of the UAE.
