Axiom predicts sales of 1.5 million 3G handsets this year
Reflects greater understanding of the technology and affordability of devices in the UAE

Axiom Telecom expects sales of 3G mobile phones in the United Arab Emirates to surpass the 1.5 million mark in 2008.
“The average mobile phone users in the UAE are now far more sophisticated in their demands of the mobile device,” commented Matthew Ramljak, retail manager, Axiom Group.
Reflecting the general shift in traditional voice-only mobile customers adopting the third-generation mobile technology, GfK data shows that more than 1.3 million 3G mobile phone units were purchased up to September 2008, compared to just over 820,000 in all of 2007.
Factors contributing to this 62% increase include greater understanding of the technology, growth of supporting networks and more affordable options available in the market.
