Ayman Abouseif, VP of Sales for SAP MENA, has resigned from the company less than one year after joining from Oracle.

A statement issued by SAP to itp.net said that Abouseif “left the company in October to pursue other career interests”.

Abouseif officially joined the company in January of 2008 to build a sales force for SAP MENA, following, SAP’s decision to establish a direct presence in the region in September 2007.

He was previously managing director for Oracle in the GCC, and senior marketing director for MEA with the company before that.

At the time of joining SAP, Abouseif said that the move was a chance to build the sales team almost from scratch, and that he felt that SAP presented a new opportunity for the market and for talented people.

SAP recently reported 690% growth from Q3 2007 to Q3 2008 in the Middle East.

Sergio Maccotta, managing director of SAP Middle East & North Africa will oversee the SAP sales team until a replacement is announced.
