Intel and ASUS are calling on customers to design new products through the website WePC.com, aiming to deliver what’s expected to be the world’s first community-designed netbook and notebooks.

By logging on to WePC.com, consumers can join a global discussion on the elements of a ‘dream’ computer, share ideas and vote on submitted concepts.

“Intel believes the spark for innovation can come from anywhere in the world,” said Khaldoun Aboul-Saoud, Intel markets development manager for the GCC. “That’s why Intel is working with ASUS to tap into the creative energy of consumers as they share ideas on designing their ideal PC. Intel is committed to encouraging conversations with consumers and giving people a voice in the design of technology they use every day and we look forward to seeing great PC designs coming from this region.”

Three online conversation groups will address the netbook, notebook and gaming notebook categories, which Intel and ASUS will use to create consumer-inspired products.

“ASUS and Intel have created WePC.com in an effort to bridge innovation and technology with consumers’ wishes and we hope to see innovations coming from our region,” added George Su, deputy managing director of Asus Middle East.

Selected participants will be rewarded with prizes for their creative role in this project.
