Kevin Kennedy to take on CEO role with Avaya

Avaya is set to get a new CEO, with the appointment of Kevin Kennedy to fill the role.

Kennedy will join the company from his present post as CEO of communications equipment manufacturer JDS Uniphase Corporation, taking on the Avaya job in January,

Current CEO and president of Avaya Charles Giancarlo will become chairman of the board.

“Kevin Kennedy brings to Avaya a deep understanding of the enterprise communications industry and extensive senior management experience,” said Giancarlo. “He will join Avaya at a time when we are strongly positioned in our industry. Kevin will lead Avaya to even greater success and further our strategy and execution to be the premier enterprise communications partner for our customers.”

Kennedy previously worked alongside Giancarlo at Cisco, where he spent eight years, and has also held executive positions with Openwave Systems, AT&T Bell Laboratories. He holds a BS in engineering from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, as well as MS and PhD degrees in engineering from Rutgers University.
