Wipro wait and see

IT consultancy specialists Wipro is not following the trend of its competitors by making major announcements or showcasing a particular new product or innovation at GITEX Technology Week says Rajender Singh Benival, marketing manager of Wipro.

IT consultancy specialists Wipro is not following the trend of its competitors by making major announcements or showcasing a particular new product or innovation at GITEX Technology Week says Rajender Singh Benival, marketing manager of Wipro.

"We do have something major in the works, but it won't be announced here," he says. "People will have to wait. GITEX is important to us and it's a tremendous platform for our products, but our brand is well established, we don't have to focus on one thing to try and make an impact like some companies, we are showcasing the complete, comprehensive range of our IT consultancy capabilities at GITEX because that is what we are all about."

Benival also feels that Wipros unique approach to the consulting partnerships with its clients helps it to stand out from the crowd.

"Other companies are more rigid when working on solutions, because of the diversity of our knowledge we can be more flexible, we can deliver complete top-end innovative solutions and we are happy to collaborate with our clients towards that end, which isn't the usual strategy for some of the other guys."

Benival acknowledges that the economic downturn would have an impact for all companies but remains belligerent about Wipro's expected continuing growth.

"We are a US $5 million company with a worldwide staff of more than 100,000 that grew 37% between the 2007-2008 financial year and signed a major agreement in this region for Saudi Airlines to outsource all of its IT to us," he asserts. "Of course there will be an impact because of what's happening [with the world's stock markets], but we want to market even more prominently in the Middle East and we believe we will still continue to grow, especially in this region, because of our experience and our quality."

"Because of the unique service we offer we can be confident in our product and the deserved reputatation that our services have acquired we feel that we are in a strong position compared to some others," he continued. "We can work through solutions internally, then they are ready for our clients."
