The Dubai Municipality's Geographical Information Systems (GIS) department unveils its new interactive eMap at GITEX Technology Week.

The electronic service, Takamul, offers interactive, comprehensive and high quality maps covering Dubai's geographic features, which will be updated on a monthly basis to keep up-to-date with Dubai's changing landscape.

The service has already been successfully employed by Dubai Municipality, the Roads and Transport Authority and the Islamic Affairs Department, which are using the service to facilitate greater business awareness.

The eMap service is officially being rolled-out to the public and private business sectors this month.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaffine, director of the GIS department, says one of the key features of this service is that it adds significant value to the existing electronic services and desktop applications.

"The service can be incorporated within any eService or application without the need for prior knowledge of a GIS based application or programming," says Al Zaffine.

"The service is flexible, user friendly and can be integrated to any electronic service or desktop application.

"Additionally, Takamul can be customised to suit individual business needs," he said.
