Business Connection is at GITEX Technology Week this year to mark itself out in the industry as a wide-ranging solutions provider.

The company's division manager Mohammed Zaheer comments: "We are one of the oldest firms dealing with ID card solutions. We have been distributors for a product called Fargo from the USA for 10 years.

"Two years ago we diversified into other complementary products, such as a product called Primera, which is a CD and DVD personalisation system. We also started dealing with audio-visual solutions and video conferencing related products. In the past, we only offered card personalisation," he explains.

The challenge, says Zaheer, is to change customer perception in the Middle East.

"People have been familiar with us for a long time now - we've exhibited at GITEX for the past eight years - but up to two years ago they only saw one product and one solution from our side," he explains.

"So last year and this year at GITEX we have been working to ensure visitors see us as an entire solutions company, offering various, different options that complement each other."

Business Connection is also promoting a new product at this year's show - the HDP 5000 from Fargo.

"This is a unique ID card printing product in the market, offered at a very competitive price," says Zaheer.

"The advantage of this equipment is that before it was launched, companies had no choice but to send their ID card requirements out to an external company to ensure they were of the highest quality. This was, without a doubt, a very lengthly and costly process for the company involved."

"But the HDP 5000 resolves all these problems - you can get your printed, high quality cards personalised by the machine in your office."

According to Zaheer, the new product has met with a strong response among potential regional customers so far.

"We had more than 100 or so good potential enquiries on the first afternoon. So it was an excellent start, better than we had expected, and we hope things will get even better by the end of the show."
