Sky Electronics claims it has just the machine for demanding gamers: the ‘Annihilator 3' ultra high-end desktop PC, available exclusively from Sharaf DG.

"The Annihilator 3 is the fastest gaming machine in the world and we've opted for a three-card, nVidia SLI graphics system using Zotac GTX 280 AMP Edition graphics cards," says Manoj Thacker managing director of Sky Electronics.

"The cards are water-cooled and overclocked to provide exceptional performance."

Sky is a distributor for various components and opted to use Zotac's AMP Edition cards because they are hand-picked for overclocking.

"Zotac manufactures its cards in house, so we can test all the cards and make sure they are ready for overclocking. As a result, we have cards that overclock better and are available in large quantities," says Carsten Berger, Zotac International's marketing director.

"The GTX 280 cards used by the Annihilator are clocked 15% higher than standard cards and can offer performance improvements as high as 15% when playing games such as Crysis Warhead."

Zotac has also recently begun shipping the ‘Nitro', an external, USB-based device that enables users to overclock their graphics cards.

"The Nitro took 14 months to develop; it's a human interface that allows users to control the frequency of graphics cards directly. It operates independently of a graphics card's drivers so you can overclock even with the latest drivers installed.

Users can modify the GPU, memory and shader frequencies on-the-fly without needing to reboot their system or exit the game they are playing," explains Berger.
