As the largest telecoms market in North Africa and a key growth market globally, Egypt is a perfect example of the commercial potential of the region to major ICT vendors.

At GITEX, Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) is showcasing the very best the country's ICT industry has to offer.

"Egypt is increasingly attracting international technology businesses that are looking to build on our competitive positioning to service the regional market. At the same time, many Egyptian companies are developing a reputation for excellence," says Dr. Hazem Abdel-Azim, ITIDA executive president.

The Global Information Technology Report 2007-2008, issued by the World Economic Forum in cooperation with INSEAD, underlines the substantial progress Egypt has made in ICT readiness in comparison to neighbouring countries over the last six years.
