Eco-aware ‘green' technologies are set to steal the limelight at GITEX Technology Week, with major vendors including 3M, Dell, Sanyo Gulf, Panasonic, Sharp and Samsung, debuting a range of low-power and environmentally friendly products on the showfloor.

Sharp, which is targeting 40% growth in the region over the next 12 months, expects more than 50% of its sales to come from eco-friendly products in the coming years.

"Sharp's latest products are designed to use less energy and be more user-friendly," claims Tomio Isogai, MD of Sharp Middle East.

"We are showcasing our latest LCD TVs and professional monitors, which contain components and materials that are recyclable and environmentally friendly."

Sanyo Gulf FZE is demonstrating its new range of ‘revolutionary' consumer and commercial products on its stand. The new products have been designed in line with the company's ‘Think GAIA' brand vision.

"Sanyo is committed to offering its customers the latest technology at the best value and quality," says Takashi Hirao, chief regional officer of Sanyo Middle East, India and Africa. "We have a strong array of exciting products lined up for GITEX Technology Week."

Martin Parsons, marketing manager for 3M Electro-Communications Business, says the company is demonstrating a low-power cabling system based on fibre optics.

"The benefits of switching to Green ICT technologies are clear. Not only do they reduce the impact and costs of energy consumption, they also meet customer and employee expectations," he says.
