Toshiba has saluted retailers in the UAE for their efforts this year at an awards ceremony for its channel partners. The event recognised the mobile PC vendor’s most valuable partners and their staff for the role they have played in driving its growth.

Regional general manager Santosh Varghese and VP emerging markets EMEA Pieter Ickx hosted the ceremony, which drew attendance from the major channels that Toshiba sells through in the UAE.

Executives from Plug-Ins, Jacky’s, Jumbo and Sharaf ensured a strong power retail turnout, while the likes of Computronic Trading, Computer Care, Lucky Star Computers, Achiever Computers and Advanced Business Computers demonstrated Toshiba’s standing in the Computer Street community.

Among those to be rewarded for their efforts were Carrefour’s Ganesh Nadokaru, who netted the retail executive of the year accolade, and Plug-Ins’ Mohammed Bin Rashed, who picked up the grand prize in the recently concluded staff incentive programme for Toshiba partners.

Toshiba has been working hard to strengthen its channel coverage in the Middle East, introducing a rebate programme earlier this year to reward partners for their sales volumes and ability to sell its assortment of products. “It is very important for us to monitor the channel health,” said Varghese. “If you want to be a strong vendor you have to have a very strong distributor and a financially healthy channel.”
