This year's GITEX Technology Week will provide European businesses with an opportunity to expand into the "lively business community" of the Middle East, according to one Italian exhibitor.

Olivetti, a manufacturer of home and office IT technologies, currently distributes its products in 83 countries across the globe, with Europe and the Far East presently counting as its biggest markets.

Olivetti head of marketing communications Emanuela Pregliasco says the company plans to use GITEX as a platform to develop relationships with new partners from across the region.

Pregliasco says Olivetti will showcase a variety of technologies at GITEX, including office, retail and banking products such as copiers, faxes and printers, and solutions for e-voting and e-payment applications.

"For Olivetti, GITEX represents an unrivalled opportunity to touch base with the Middle East's lively business community," says Pregliasco.

"GITEX is the most important ICT event in the Middle East, which is why we consider it vital to be present there."
