According to reports, the decision to block access to YouTube has been revoked by the Ministry of Communications after a meeting was held to discuss the issue.

Sunday’s surprise announcement by the Ministry to block YouTube over offensive videos generated angry reactions from people in Kuwait, with several voicing their opinions online.

One blogger writing under the name ‘Falantan’ who is believed to work for a Kuwaiti internet service provider, announced the Ministry’s decision being revoked in his latest blog post.

“…around 10:30pm we got information that the MoC people said they will sit together tomorrow morning (this morning) to discuss the issue further,” he wrote. “Now I got confirmation that the Minister himself has convened with his department heads and rescinded the order.”

The topic made front-page news on Arabic daily, Al Jarida, and has brought Kuwait’s internet censorship into the spotlight.
