Netgear has awarded networking VAR Prologix the rights to distribute its switches and VPN firewall routers in the UAE as it attempts to step up its assault on the SMB market.

The agreement between the pair is fuelled by their mutual relationship with communications vendor Avaya. Prologix is a long-term Avaya ally, while Netgear aims to reinforce its own global partnership with the vendor by supporting its advanced business-class IP telephony solution in the Middle East SMB sector.

Netgear says its Smart Switches with Power over Ethernet (PoE) capability can power Avaya Quick Edition phones and VPN firewalls to enable remote teleworking.

Prologix, which is a major reseller of Avaya’s Quick Edition solution, boasts the network, telecommunications and security expertise that Netgear believes is vital for penetrating the SMB sector. It has also completed numerous structured cabling projects for corporate offices and commercial towers, which is a part of the market that Netgear is looking to expand into.

“The SMB market is the fastest growing segment in the Middle East in terms of technology adoption, and our aim is to tap into the booming market not only by enhancing our current range of products, but also through our strategic partnerships with leading resellers in rapidly growing markets such as the UAE,” said Omar Lutfi Azzawi, SMB channel manager at Netgear Middle East.

Prologix joins a growing list of Netgear distributors in the Middle East. The company also works with Ashley, Al Rammah, Matrix Computer System and BiOnline in the Gulf, Teledata in Lebanon and Al-Naba’a in Iraq.
