Home fashion retailer The One is the first business in the region to buy HP’s large format Designjet Z3100 Photo Printer. The One said it purchased the product, launched in the Middle East last month, to expand its professional printing portfolio and capitalise on consumer demand for large fine art prints to hang in their home or office. ”We chose HP, not only for its superior printing and colour experience, but also for HP’s leading services and support options that gives us greater confidence,” said Mikael Lagerstrom, retail identity manager at The One. “The HP Designjet Z3100 caters to our exact requirements thus giving us excellent photo features, an improved user interface and full control over our digital fine art needs which ultimately helps us lower printing costs, save time and help us provide gallery-quality pieces,” he added. HP claimed the Designjet Z Series printers were designed to deliver reliable colour accuracy for 24- and 44-inch museum-quality prints with 200 years’ photo permanence. The vendor said the printers employed the industry’s first embedded spectrophotometer, utilising i1 Colour Technology from X-Rite. Mounted on the printer carriage with completely self-contained optics and electronics, HP claimed the embedded spectrophotometer greatly simplified accurate colour-matching, enabling automated ICC (International Colour Consortium) profiling and HP Advanced Closed-Loop Colour Calibration. HP said the result meant the user could create colour profiles in minutes rather than hours and expect exact colour matches throughout the printing process. “We are delighted that The One has chosen HP for its graphic fine art printing needs. HP realised that there was a gap in the market for a professional photo printer that addresses the exact needs of graphic designers, professional photographers, prepress and digital fine arts,” said Amr Hassan, general manager of HP’s Imaging and Printing Group. “With the introduction of the Designjet Z3100, we are certain to fill that gap and ensure a flawless, straightforward printing experience for professionals every step of the way. “Soon, customers of The One will be able to browse through some of the fascinating art pieces at their stores and experience HP’s print quality first-hand,” Hassan revealed.
