Forefront Technologies, the MEA document management and imaging distributor, is planning to cement its regional presence with the opening of an office in Qatar, Channel Middle East can exclusively reveal.

The company - whose main product lines and services include document imaging scanners from names like Kodak and Fujitsu, large format scanners and storage solutions from the likes of Tandberg and Plasmon - says the growth that has precipitated the opening of the new office is reflective of the potential in the document management and imaging industry in the Middle East.

"We saw a good growth over the last three years in Qatar, an average of 25% to 30% in 2005 and 2006 so that is why we are really putting a large focus on it now," explained Johni Jabbor, regional sales manager at Forefront.

"The time came for Qatar because we saw the demand in the market and need for technical support and pre-sales and promotional activities," he added.

The new office will at first be staffed by three employees - an operational manager, a technical expert and an administrator. Jabbor confirms that the remit of the branch in Qatar will be similar to its offices elsewhere in the region, such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

"The Qatar branch follows the same concept as other Forefront offices, we do not sell directly to end-users, we assist the resellers in their business in Qatar and make sure that they have product ready for delivery," he said.
