Indoor wireless solutions outfit MobileAccess has opened a regional office in Dubai Internet City as part of a move designed to expand its business in the Middle East.

The company, which provides a range of multi-service indoor wireless solutions for operators and hospitality establishments, believes the office will allow it to enhance the delivery of services and provide better accessibility to clients.

MobileAccess has appointed Mario Maas as director of international business development to spearhead the office. He boasts a solid understanding of the networking channel following previous roles at companies such as Nomadix and Proxim. Maas also worked for Lucent prior to its merger with Alcatel.

“MobileAccess is stepping up its efforts to expand its presence in the Middle East, particularly in the booming Gulf region,” said Cathy Zatloukal, president and CEO at MobileAccess, which claims to be the first indoor coverage solutions provider to offer integrated support for Wireless LAN and, more recently, Mobile WiMAX services.

She continued: “Dubai Internet City will serve as a highly strategic base for our activities in the region because of its advanced IT infrastructure and rapid adoption of new technology. The UAE in general has been recognised as one of the leaders in the Middle East and North Africa in terms of e-readiness, and we are making a determined bid to capitalise on this favourable situation.”
