Data centre management took centre stage with two events taking place on the topic in the region this month. “As the Gulf region continues to move to conduct business, it must make sure that its data centres and e-infrastructures can support the most demanding of requirements, look beyond oil and whole cities being created — it’s a mission-critical hub,” commented the organisers of the Data Centre Dynamics (DCD), in Dubai. Panduit, a high-end cabling specialist and one of Cisco’s main technology partners, was looking forward to DCD. “We will be looking at the key drivers behind design criteria, including high-density servers, storage and clustering, with the emphasis on high-speed communications,” commented Pete Gough, regional manager for Panduit’s Middle East office, ahead of the event. “These drivers bring their own design issues to the data centre that must be addressed, in order to achieve a solution that not only meets, but also exceeds the user’s expectations,” he added. Online Distribution is also holding a Data Centre roadshow this month, running in various locations across the region.
