The HPxw4550 Workstation includes the Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor, which is designed for entry workstation applications including engineering and digital content creation. The machine is targeted at enterprise customers who are looking for more performance for their dollars.

"HP continues to delight our customers by delivering first-to-market advancements such as the new quad-core AMD processors," said Anil Kumar, commercial and consumer category manager, HP Middle East. "The HP xw4550 makes it easier for anyone wishing to tap the power of a workstation to afford to have one under their desk."

The Opteron processor family has advanced features such as enhanced power management and virtualisation functions. It includes an integrated ATI Radeon X1250 graphics card.

It also adheres to eco-friendly standards; the workstation is registered as an Electronics Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold product, and is 90% recyclable, with an 80 Plus-certified power supply - which reduces power usage and heat emissions. In addition, it features the efficiency of AMD's Direct Connect Architecture, which delivers an improved system performance by removing data bottlenecks typical to legacy architectures.
