A new version of Google Talk instant messaging application, designed specifically to run in Apple's Safari browser on the iPhone and iPod Touch, is now available.

For those that can't bear the thought of disconnecting from their IM buddies, the mobile version of Google Talk is a welcome option as it allows users to engage in conversations with online contacts while on the move.

Users must keep the application running using Safari and if another application or browser is opened, their Google Talk status will be changed to ‘unavailable' until the user restarts Safari.

Aside from that application restriction, all of the new version's features are similar to the original desktop version.

The mobile version of Google Talk can be accessed if you go to google.com/talk on your iPhone or iPod Touch.
