Bavarian Auto Group has selected enterprise software specialist SAP to provide it with Enterprise Resource Planning systems (ERP) in a bid, it claims, to improve operational efficiency.

Bavarian Auto Group - exclusive distributor for BMW products in Egypt - will implement a number of SAP solutions, including financial, controlling, material management, sales and distribution, as well as production planning. The firm claims these new systems will ease costs, consolidate financial statements online and allow Bavarian Auto Group to closely monitor the shop floor.

Ayman Abouseif, SAP's vice president of sales in the Middle East and North Africa, described the automotive industry in the Middle as an evolving one.

"Customers are constantly lifting the bar of expectations. SAP solutions for the automotive industry provide a scalable system to help companies achieve efficiency on all operational fronts," he said.

"Our operations have become more complex as a result of the substantial growth we have experienced in recent years. SAP solutions have been chosen to help simplify our operations so that we can focus on our core business competence and continue to lead the way in the automotive industry," added Dr. Zakaria Elnaggar, senior IT manager for Bavarian Auto Group.

A number of automotive manufacturers worldwide run SAP systems, including Audi, Toyota and Daimler.
